Scarlet Hotel

Last Friday was sort of different as compared to the past few. The afternoon passed painfully slow and I had to settle some financial loans with the Bank. There were some small issues and my colleagues were kind enough to help me and provided me with their opinions.
The project Manager of our team organised a dinner with the DBS team. It was scheduled at 7pm and the venue was Scarlet Hotel. When we reached there, the hotel wasn't what I expected it to be. I was expecting a sleazy place but it turns out to be an elegant boutique hotel. The place was lavishly decorated with a Scarlet/Red theme and furbished with epicurean furnitures. Seems like my buddy really like the place. As there wasn't enough sofas, I had to share with him. All was good until we were told to mingle and interact with the DBS staffs.
My boss told me to grasp the opportunity to know these people better to widen my network which could be useful in my career path. Thus, I relayed the message to my Buddy. However, its really awkard to communicate with them considering that they are my clients and there wasn't any common topic that I could think of. Hmm, I'm just not witty enough to hold a conversation with them. Moreover, I never really enjoyed social functions like these.
I dun really like to entertain these people cos I have to drink. I guessed I drank abit too fast on an empty stomache. The dinner was in the form of finger foods and wasn't really filling. Ivan was busy talking to the girls and the rest, Tin was entertaining the DBS people and I did not want to talk to Robin and Derrick. I was kinda lonely so I just kept quiet, enjoying the music and the atmosphere.
It was around 9 plus when we decided to make a move. They suggested catching a movie so we shared cabs to catch a late night movie at Cineleisure. We bought tickets for the 11.30pm show, titled "Must Love Dogs". (Fag Derrick still owe me the change for the movie tix) It was still early so the group decided to find a place for drinks. However, its tough to find seats for a group of 7. By the time we managed to get a place at NYDC, it was already 11pm.
The movie was great. We parted after the movie in 3 different cabs. Ivan, me, Esther and Claudia shared a cab home and thus we send the gers home first.
